"I am running for Lake County Board to give the people a choice besides the cookie cutter politician. I am a Decorated United States Navy Veteran with an Honorable Discharge and was a member of Special Forces as a Deep Sea Navy Diver. I have been a Firefighter Paramedic for 15 years with the Waukegan FD and currently hold the rank of Lieutenant.

We have just over 2 weeks left before the Primary and I urge you to do your research and vote for who you feel is the best candidate not who others tell you to vote for.

Vote for a candidate that actually cares about this country and the community we live in Vote for a candidate that has demonstrated actions that confirm those very convictions.

Duty and honor is not my punch line, they are my core values.

A vote for me is a vote for taking the first step to restoring integrity back to Illinois Politics. "

Why do I support Anthony Soler for Lake County Board?
     By Brad Buntrock

Why do I support Anthony Soler for Lake County Board District 13? I have known Anthony for 15 years and I can tell you that Anthony is a true public servant who has a proven track record of fighting for what is right...

Prior to becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic Anthony served his country in the United States Navy (and received an honorable discharge). While in the Navy he was a member of the Naval Special Warfare / Naval Special Operations as a Deep Sea Navy Diver. Just graduating from U.S. Navy Dive School is a feat in itself, only a small percentage of sailors even qualify for entrance to Dive School and then on average only half of those that are accepted will make it to graduation day.

Working as a Firefighter takes an exceptional type of person. It requires someone who is willing to work all hours of the day or night, and risk their own life and safety in order to help strangers. When people dial 9-1-1 they want help, they want problems solved and solved right now. We work in an industry that still makes house calls and when we arrive at your home we give our all and sometimes our lives to solve other people’s problems.  In that respect, a good elected official is not all that different than a Firefighter.  We want our elected officials to respond when we reach out to them, we want courageous problem solvers that are willing to do what needs to be done in order to help the most people (not just the ones writing the donation checks). We want elected officials who actually care about this country, the community we live in, and have demonstrated actions that confirm those convictions.

I support and endorse Anthony Soler for Lake County Board District 13, because he is an intelligent problem solver, a proven leader, a motivator, and a diplomat. I am proud to have worked with Anthony Soler the past 15 years and am confident he will serve Lake County Board District 13 with the same honor and commitment he has displayed as a friend, a Sailor and a Firefighter.

District 13 Democrats differ on Lake County Open Space Purchases
Daily Herald Article February 15, 2012

...Soler said open space and forest preserve land should grow proportionately, but taxes should not be increased to buy land during tough economic times.

“I feel that as Lake County develops, open spaces should be secured,” he said. “Since that is not the case at this time, I do not see a need to expand for the sake of buying land because of the depressed real estate market.”

"Candidates for the Lake County Board may face an identity crisis, but there is no lack of issues for them to debate.

Many people may not really know or understand the role of the Lake County Board, but three Democratic and two Republican candidates for District 13, which encompasses Lake Bluff, Gages Lake, Wildwood and parts of Gurnee, North Chicago and Waukegan, will be on the March 20 primary ballot. ..."
